In December 2016 CM Connection Magazines ran an online poll inviting the local community to vote for their favourite local charity.
The winner of the poll was Streets2Homes. Yey! As a business we were already familiar with the charity, having supported fund raising events and initiatives for them in the past.
As our "Charity of the Year 2017" we have pledged to:
Run monthly articles covering Homelessness issues, across all three of our titles.
Advertise events and initiatives.
Sponsor their membership to a local business networking group.
Connect them to as many people, business and organisations as possible.
And finally, to take part in SLEEPOUT 2017!
Personally, I have wanted to take part in this for a number of years now but the timings have just never worked... until now! I am so pleased that I am able to take part this year.
At 76 years of age my mum faced the possibility of being homeless. It was an awful time; she was able to live with us until a solution was found. There are people young and old who, for many complicated reasons, do not have someone that they can stay with. This is why I am so passionate about this event and the charity behind it.
So, at the tender age of 49 I will be sleeping out! I am humbly aware that I have the luxury of being able to prepare well in advance for this and will have plenty of warm clothing, cardboard, waterproofs and a sleeping bag. Most who find themselves homeless do not.
S2H really is an amazing charity, if you get the chance pop in for a visit. The charity offers warmth, shelter, hot food, hot showers, clothing, an address, support, training and more.
Please help me to support Streets2Homes and our local homeless by sponsoring me. No amount is too small; every single penny will be most gratefully received.
