
An all-terrain go-kart-style wheelchair has been purchased for community use by disabled walkers in Colchester (the result of a NatWest CommunityForce award and funding from Colchester Catalyst Charity. The project would now benefit from further investment to develop its potential - in particular funds to construct high-security storage to give it a permanent home at a local Colchester park, and to be able to take it out to other country parks and locations in the region for trial events.
Why they need our serviceTo enable mobility-restricted walkers (chair users, disabled and older walkers) to access open countryside alongside non-disabled walkers and cyclists.
Plan and expected resultsThis project opens the way for brilliant new opportunities for disabled walkers and lovers of the countryside to get out into open countryside across all terrains, gradients and distances, and to do so alongside and on an equal basis with their friends and family on foot and bike.
