At the beginning of this year, six of us foolishly signed up to endure24 - a 24-hour relay race at Bramham Park in July 2022. The aim is to have someone on the course at all times, taking it in turns to chalk up another 5-mile loop. We wanted an ambitious fitness goal, but also the opportunity to try to raise some money for a local charity in what is a difficult time financially for many.
Some of us run a bit, some of us are newly trying to form a running habit and all of us are creaking with injuries and just being a bit, well, soft. This is going to be a massive challenge (and then there's the camping too!).
We are delighted to be raising money for Leeds Women's Aid, who are raising funds to redevelopment the garden and playground area of one of their refuges. Particularly as colleagues at Connect Housing, also a provider of domestic abuse services in West Yorkshire, this is a cause close to all our hearts.
Team members are: Louise Handley, Sarah Devall, Kevin McAllister, Martyn Broadest, Jonny Longden and Epiphany Kidd. We don't expect to be winning any trophies but are prepared to tough it out for as long as we can run, crawl, walk and limp. Any donation, however small, would be gratefully received by all of us, and Leeds Women's Aid.
