Between September 28th and October 3rd 2017 Dave Galvin & Stuart Phenna will be trekking approximately 60 miles through the Atlas Mountains of Morocco in an attempt to reach the summit of Mount Jebel Toubkal. At an altitude of 13671 feet Toubkal is the highest mountain in North Africa and is just over three times the height of Ben Nevis. We will be sleeping in mountain huts, coping with unimaginable toilet facilities, and hopefully avoiding altitude sickness that can hit you above 8000 feet. So why are we putting ourselves through this?
In a nutshell we are trying to raise funds for the charity My Life that is based in Standish in the northwest of England. My Life is a registered charity that connects people with their communities. They help to make lives better for people of all ages who need support to live a good life, including children, young people and adults with disabilities, people with ill health or age-related problems, and people who generally feel lonely or isolated within their communities.
Dave’s eldest daughter Amy was diagnosed with a brain tumour as a toddler and the resulting surgery left her with severe disabilities. She is given enormous support by My Life through the provision of a carer as well as activities at their day centre. This is our opportunity to raise funds for My Life so they can continue the fantastic work that they do.
Any donation however small would be very much appreciated and we thank you for your support.
