As some of you know I have been a volunteer for Our Place Community Hub for a number of years but what do I actually do ?!
Our Place is based in Farthing Lane (the 'other' side of the Duke car park) & from a small community building we offer a fantastic range of support to local children and families.
If you click on the Our Place link below you can find out more about the range of services that we provide but my role is that of Parent Mentor - I'm part of a small team of volunteers that run Parenting courses & workshops as well as offering 1:1 support to parents in need.
I have long believed that the best way to improve outcomes for children is by working with parents & sometimes that involves simply being alongside them as they face the sort of challenges that can happen to us all - debt, bereavement, anxiety, domestic violence, disability,depression, poor housing .... the list goes on.
I see the difference that Our Place makes to the lives of children and families in Sutton Coldfield every day. £10 will pay for a DBS Check for a volunteer (Criminal Record Check), £25 will pay for a full mentoring session including resources & I can say with confidence that every penny you donate will make a difference to our community so please do what you can.
