Create an artistic spectacle to celebrate 'Light'. A professionally managed stage will be set up where performances by individuals, groups/workshops/demonstrations will take place throughout the day. Exhibitions/workshops/information, business stands will line Market Square. Highlight of the day will be the grand procession making its way around Town Centre. This year IHWO will be working with 12 schools to produce the colourful structures.

Why they need our service

For the 12th year running, IHWO Northampton is preparing to host a 'Winter Festival of Lights', public marking of Diwali in Northampton on Saturday 10th November 2012. 'Light' is a significant aspect for all community groups around November and December of the year. Therefore, the event is intended to be not just a celebration of Diwali, but a festival of lights for people from all communities within Northamptonshire to come together for 1 day and celebrate light and life.

Plan and expected results

Respect and friendship reflected in every aspect of the event. Linking with artists and different community groups, the event will offer many opportunities for cross cultural and inter-generational working creating unique collaborations and innovations. Young people will be central to the event - from school students being involved in the creation of artistic structures, to young people performing on the stage, thus supporting the learning skills and personal development of young people.
