A DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. Young people need to be aged between 14 and 24 and be prepared to have a good time. There are three levels of programme which, when successfully completed lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. The main differences between them are the minimum length of time it takes to complete them, how challenging it is and the minimum age people can start.
Why they need our serviceWe have had a number of enquiries lately from Special Needs schools regarding delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh Award - expeditions and residentials. This is a specialist area that many schools and youth groups are unable to deliver. Mobex North East has the experience of working with young disabled people as well as delivering expeditions and residentials.
Plan and expected resultsThe young people taking part will build their confidence, team work skills, problem solving, creative thinking and communication skills. In addition they will also develop a knowledge of the outdoors, in particular navigation skills.
