Rachael Watkins and I are currently training to take part in the Worcester Half Marathon on Sunday 20th May 2018. As of March 2018, we are 11 weeks into our training plan and have run 65 miles in total so far with 7 weeks left of the plan.
We are proud to report that we haven’t had any serious injuries so far (touch wood!) – just shin splints now and again (ouch!) . And our training has been eventful, so far we have:
1. undertaken a mixture of indoor and outdoor training which has tested our will power, particularly our evening runs from work running past so many fast food restaurants (as you can see by our proud faces in our picture - we didn't cave!);
2. kept to our training plan - whatever the weather and even with a hangover (or two!); and
3. rewarded ourselves with our longest run by ordering a Dominos mid run for when we got home!
By the time we reach the start of the Half Marathon in May we will have run a total of 198 miles in our training! (makes us tired just thinking about it!).
Our main reason for running the half is to increase awareness of mental health and to raise money for the firm’s charity of the year 'Dudley Mind'. We are also doing this to promote our own health and wellbeing.
I am sure that you, like us, know of somebody who has suffered with their mental heath. According to the NHS, 1 in 4 people will suffer with mental health issues. So, please sponsor us and help us to raise money for such a fantastic charity.
Thanks,
Rachael and Katie
