Welcome to Black Country Mental Health. Working across the Black Country we are here to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. We aim to improve mental health awareness and to support people who have mental health problems in their recovery. We run and coordinate a range of mental health services including peer mentoring/self help and ecotherapy. These are currently available online and also face to face. We support self help groups and have a befriending telephone service for people who are isolated and find it difficult to get out of the house. We also provide training in mental health to organisations/businesses so they can support their staff and develop an open and transparent culture around mental health in the workplace.
We also offer a support line till midnight 7 days a week.
Why the community needs us
I in 4 people will experience a mental health problem. Black Country Mental Health can also provide advice and information to friends and family members of people with mental health problems who are often unable to access this support.
The pandemic has made more people experience anxiety and low mood.
Our impact on the community
Recent feedback from people who use our services has told us how valuable and essential we are to them. Our services provide the social contact and meaningful activity that people would be unable to access anywhere else. Feedback from attendees of our training services have highlighted how informative and rewarding the training has been and how it has helped to remove many of the prejudices they may have previously held regarding people with mental health problems.
