We are campaigning to raise funds to lease a bedsit for young people in an emergency situation. This will allow time to seek other accommodation & ensure they're able to sleep safely at night. This will be for a maximum of 2 weeks allowing time to mediate with family where possible and to ensure they are acccessing an income to enable us to help them secure accommodation. This will provide a platform for them to move into a stable situation so they can improve future prospects.
Why they need our serviceThere is a shortage of emergency accommodation in Warwickshire for young people when there is no statutory duty. Doorway's advice service frequently sees young people in an emergency situation and if they are aged 18 years and over there is no where to refer them to in the North of Warwickshire. Their only options are usually in Coventry or Birmingham. They often prefer to sofa surf or sometimes sleep rough rather than go to an unfamilar area.
Plan and expected resultsHaving emergency accommodation will help vulnerable homeless young people to be safe from harm and start to rebuild their lives. 30 young people a year would benefit from not having to sleep rough.
