I am going from the Garden to 10K on May 13th to raise money for a new roof for the Supported training cabin at St Werburgh's City Farm! If you're here, you probably know that I work as the Horticultural Training Officer at St Werburgh's City Farm. After volunteering on the project and loving it, I was fortunate to apply for and get a job that I am very passionate about. Out of our little cabin, together with a group of adults with support needs, we manage a community garden, two greenhouses and a polytunnel using organic practices. Our cabin provides a safe and constant space away from the hubbub of the rest of the farm (them goatses be rowdy) for the people we support to anchor themselves. However, disaster has stricken! Our roof has blown off in the winter! Okay, not the whole roof, but the tiles and waterproofing, which pretty much means the whole roof very soon. So my boss Jess and I have decided to get up and train to 10K on May the 13th and to ask our friends, family, arch nemeses to dig deep so we can carry on the excellent work out of the cabin! So far I have registered to run on May 13th for the Bristol 10K run and started training! I am trying to squeeze three to four runs in a week. I might even do a 5K Park run to see how I am doing! It goes without saying - Any donation no matter how small will be appreciated and all funds will go towards Supported Training's new roof! *******UPDATE*********** 12/05/2018 Woot Woot! Thanks to everyone that has donated and helped me hit 500 smackeroons. It means sooosooo much! Any further donations will still go to our roof: Some incredibly generous local contractors (Greenheart Sustainable Construction) have offered to supply free timber and labour, and Polyroof will supply other materials free of charge. However, we still need to pay for scaffolding, skips and other sundries, costing over £1000.
