I was 18 and assaulted in a public park where I spent most my teenage years training for my love of athletics. It left me traumatised, confused, ashamed and embarrassed. I quit my athletics club and was no longer aware of who I was. I tried counselling, 1, 2, 3 times and all had failed to help. When my Uncle Darren recommended RSVP to me, I was very sceptical, I didn't want to pour my heart out to anymore strangers just to be left back at square one. But RSVP saved my life, because of the women there I am now a stronger person than I would ever have been before. It taught me how to grow up, how to manage my emotions and most importantly how to find myself again, as a victim, but as a survivor.
I am now 24 years old, back running and competing in the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll half marathon to raise money and give something back to such an amazing charity.
Thank you for everything you have done, and still do for me and thousands of other women like me.
I am a survivor, thanks to RSVP!
