As of October 2022, Jubilee Pool has become Bristol's first community owned pool! But current affairs have meant that there is lots of fundraising to be done to keep it open and as part of the management committee looking after this local gem, I'm trying to do my bit by taking part in the second annual 24 hour relay swim - the Jubilee-athon.
I'll be trying to beat my total from last year (103 lengths in an hour) and to add to the challenge will be doing it at 3am in the morning and stewarding for the rest of the event!
If you are able to donate, I'd be so grateful. The pool is such an important asset for the mental and physical health of so many in south Bristol. Thank you!

From the Official Jubilee-athon event page: Where does the money go? During the first three months of community ownership, we have focused with our delivery partner Parkwood on stabilising staff levels, monitoring the monthly costs of gas/electricity and pool chemicals, creating plans for improved swim lesson services and dealing with basic maintenance and repair issues. The money you raise at this year 's Jubilee-athon will support:
Rising energy and pool chemical costs
Energy efficient improvements to our heating and air handling systems
Expertise to apply for major grants for structural improvements
Professional fees to quantify and cost major repair work ready for grant funding applications
Additional swim teacher training and options to broaden our services
