EPIC Norfolk is aiming to fundraise £20,000 throughout 2024 to enable us to provide physical activity opportunities to 1,000's of people in Norfolk living with Dementia.

This money will enable us to continue to provide 1:1 physical activity and group games on the Dementia friendly wards at QEH Kings Lynn, as well as allowing us to expand to other hospital and community locations.

Did you know that:

  • for 60% of patients on bed rest, there is nothing documented to say why.

  • deconditioning during a hospital stay contributed to a delayed discharge in 47% of older patients.

  • patients spend 83% of their time in bed a d 12% of their time in a chair.

  • 17% of older patients who were walking independently 2 weeks prior to hospital admission needed help to walk on discharge. These statistics are very concerning and demonstrates the importance of the need for our Exercise Specialists to support older people in hospital to ensure they are supported to move and exercise during their hospital stay.
