The project is to build new changing and shower facilities by extending the existing building and improve the look of the facilities in relation to the investment locally in the construction of the new marina. It is also planning to build a new main deck building as a multi-use facility for the community for winter and summer youth training.

The building we have is currently undersized for our membership of over 100 young people. At present we have onlyt two showers and a very small changing area to allow our young people to use when accessing the watersports. We wish to expand these facilities to allow more young people to access the practical, healthy and fun watersports training that helps to build young people confidence and teamwork.

It is expected that the building extension will see an increase in the useage of the facilities and the number of young people partcipating in watersports activities in Northampton. This will be done in partnership with the national governing bodies such as the Royal Yatching Association, the British Canoe Union and British Rowing. Currently we complete approx 6,000 hours afloat with young people which is biased towards dry afloat activity. We hope to see more Sailing, Windsurfing and Canoe.
