
The Duke of Edingburgh Award encourages young people to put their effort and skills towards an award that is recognised by employers and the community alike. The award is run on three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) It is available to young people over the age of 14 yrs. The award encourages young people to learn a skill, participate in a sport, volunteer their time to the community and participate in a challanging expedition by walking, sailing or rowing.
Plan and expected resultsThe Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme gives young people social confidence and encourages teamwork and self belief in young people. Though allowing the young person to gain recognision for pursuing a new activity to a standard it enables all young people reguardless of academic background or ability to be rewarded for effort in improvement. The Duke of Edinburgh Award helps our young people to responcible adulthood and become active and engaged citizens in the local community.
