My niece, Emma, is 21 and although she has severe learning difficulties music has always been an important part of her life. She enjoys listening to jazz in particular and responds to one on one music therapy through which she can fully express herself by experiencing a wide range of sounds.
I'm doing a 100 mile bike ride in the New Forest on 17th September in aid of Chiltern Music Therapy, a not-for-profit organisation, which has helped Emma. It provides music therapy services to people of all ages with a range of additional needs including, Learning Disabilities, Brain injury, Dementia, Mental-health and emotional difficulties, and those with life-threatening illnesses.
Here is an idea what your money could support:
£10 could provide a subsidised Music Therapy session for a child or adult
£30 could provide a 6 week place for a child or adult in a Music Therapy group
£100 could provide a half day of Music Therapy for a charity organisation
