In June, we lost a good friend and colleague, Mark Wade, to Covid 19. I can’t even explain in words how much of an impact he had, not only on my life, but on everyone at school, students included. He will leave a huge hole in all of our lives and I wanted to do something to remember him by, as well as giving something back to him for everything he has done for me. I’ve decided that despite the Great North Run being cancelled this year, i still want to do a half marathon on Sept 13th. So I’ve had a think and created an event for myself, including my own route. The Good North Run. I want to continue to raise money for charity, and have chosen a charity Mark worked with closely, Re:store foodbank in Northampton. The Good North Run route starts at 10:00 at The Daren Persson Stadium, home of North Shields FC and passes a few more football grounds (Percy Main FC, Newcastle Benfield FC, Heaton Stan FC, and NUFC), before crossing the Tyne Bridge (had to be done) and finishing at Gateshead Stadium. I have walked this route and it is exactly 13.11 miles. I’d really appreciate any contributions towards such a great cause, no matter how small, and if anyone wants to join me at the end for a social distance pint at the Schooner then I’ll see you there. Thanks for reading,
