Please sponsor me for (bravely, stupidly? The jury’s out..) jumping out of a plane at 10,000ft for the Wessex MS Centre on 7th September 2024!

As you may know, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis nearly 6 years ago. Multiple sclerosis is a neurodegenerative disease that affects over 150,000 people in the UK. It manifests differently from person to person and day to day, the uncertainty of its effects and progression is one of the things some people (including me) find most difficult to deal with.

You’ll have seen me on good days where my symptoms are low and my outlook is positive! You may have seen me on not so good days, where I’m having difficultly walking short distances, legs the weight of lead, tripping over my own feet, being hard on myself and frustrated that I can’t keep up. I’m so grateful to my unwavering support network for loving me as I am, reminding me not to be too hard on myself (easier said than done!) and meeting my where I am each day.

The Wessex MS Therapy Centre are a self-funded registered charity, providing therapies, information and practical and emotional support for people with multiple sclerosis and other conditions, such as Cancer, sports injuries, ME and chronic fatigue, Fibromyalgia - among many other conditions. The centre offers physical therapies in a comfortable and friendly environment to aid symptom management, promoting and enabling independence to improve well-being and quality of life. They offer physiotherapy, reflexology, oxygen therapy, counselling, massage therapy, nutritional advice, pilates and yoga. Here is a link to their website if you would like to know more:https://www.wessexms.co.uk

The support provided by the Wessex MS Centre is invaluable. It’s comforting to know you’re not alone and are understood.

Over the course of my journey since diagnosis I have met the most inspirational people, who live their best lives and choose happiness in the face of disability or pain. I am constantly in awe of the people I am privileged to now count as friends.

The MS Society and the Wessex MS Centre are vital resources to help people feel valuable and seen in their lives, connecting us with each other. The centre couples provision of these therapies with their expert knowledge of how MS can manifest and behave, making these treatments accessible, affordable and useful.

The money we raise will enable the provision of these services to continue, so please make a donation if you can and wish me luck!! I may have MS but it doesn’t have me. Thank you ❤️
