Hi, I have been raising funds for various charities for over 40 years. I was inspired by a man who had suddenly gone blind but instead of being defeatist he was determined to raise money to help others. So, many years ago when I used to run a pub, I would to "fine" anyone who smoked whilst playing pool. This progressed into sponsored 40 mile walks, cycle rides and eventually skydives where over a 100 customers raised money for their nominated charities doing a parachute jump.
Since getting to know Yeleni Therapy & Support Cancer Centre I have been blessed with continued good health and have done several fundraising activities for them, including walking the 300 mile Camino in Spain, growing my hair long, dying it rainbow colours and shaving it all off, accompanying Postman Mike on his treadmill marathon dressed as Peter Pan, to name a few. This year as I approach my 82nd Birthday in November I have decided to "stand still" and do a wing walk strapped to a bi plane on Friday 16th September to raise funds for Yeleni. This is a great local charity who rely upon grants and fundraising events to continue to offer free therapies to anyone with any form of cancer, as well as providing 4 free sessions to their nominated carer. Since they reopened after Covid in April 2021 they have seen over 180 new cancer patients which is a massive increase on previous years. I hope that you will sponsor me and if you pay tax ,do gift aid your donation as they will get an extra 25%. Thank you for supporting this octogenarian and helping me to make a difference.
