Supporting Darlington's elderly community
Christmas is a special time for families to get together but for those with no family or friends around to visit it can be really depressing. Many elderly people in our community already suffer from isolation and loneliness, but this time of year can be especially challenging.
Darlington Town Mission support our elderly "Friends" ( clients) helping them to really look forward to the Christmas period by taking them on a range of outings where they can socialise and share some festive fun.
Not all of our "Friends" are able to leave their homes or care homes for a variety of reasons and so they are unable to enjoy a social event.
We can all help to bring them a gift of festive cheer. Join us in our "Happy Hampers" project. We'd like to deliver a Christmas Hamper filled with local festive fayre. Receiving a hamper would bring great joy. For those with no visitors, this might be the only gift that they receive this Christmas. Our three Missioners supported by a team of volunteers will deliver these hampers of happiness across Darlington.
