3 years ago my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and is currently awaiting assessment for Autism.
As a community nurse for people with learning disabilities I am very familiar with the condition of Autism, however not so much with ADHD. Parenting Special Children held courses that helped me gain a greater understanding of ADHD.
In September 2014 I started to work for Parenting Special Children as a 'Sleep Practitioner', and we run courses to help parents/ carers with children with special needs to manage their sleep issues.
They also provide a free support network, workshops and 1-2-1 advice for families working out what an Additional Needs diagnosis means for them. This could mean any disability, learning disabilities, developmental delay or a genetic disorder. They also support parents going through the diagnostic process, when professionals have identified that there is something not right with a child’s development but they are awaiting appointments or results to find out possible causes.
As you can see this is a wonderful charity and I hope that you will support me with my running venture!
Many thanks,
Helen
