This project has been developed to help over 65's or disabled people who are living on State Pensions with tasks in their homes that they may find it increasing difficult to do due to infirmity, mobility issues or disability such as climbing into lofts, moving furniture, changing curtains, turning mattressess etc this service is offered FREE to over 65's or disabled people living in Britwell. All of our volunteers that carry out this project are crb checked and training in vulnerable adults.
Why they need our serviceMany people on the Britwell estate are elderly and are in this target group of over 65's or disabled. Many families live all over the country or world and some people do not have anyone to carry out these tasks. They could ask strangers or neighbours but this leaves them very vulnerable to undesirables and could endanger their health or wealth (robbed or worse). Some of our clients have told me that they worry and get stressed because they can no longer do certain things.
Plan and expected resultsSafer, less stressed improvement in health and social being, feeling part of a community, one beneficiary said "we are a god send and it was nice that someone was looking after them as they were getting older" Impproving community cohesion through interacting with this target group. Knowledge passed on to us from benficiars is vital to our project one man has trained a volunteer in French Polishing and other has given us Carpentry tips and tools.
