Aiming to raise money for people by putting my body and mind through various experiences of physical and mental torment - It will however, be only a fraction of the pain which many people who are helped by these charities have been through.
I am raising money for a great charity and one which I have actively involved myself with.
The name of the charity is BRISTOL REFUGEE RIGHTS.
It provides a huge amount of support to Refugees and Asylum seekers. Its principles are;
Welcoming people into a safe place
Empowering people to achieve an independent and productive life
Enabling social inclusion
Bringing public attention to human rights aspects of asylum law and
I have 2 up and coming events which I have funded myself to take part in;
- CARDIFF HALF MARATHON (06/10) - 13.1 miles of pushing myself towards a personal best and a hope of achieving a time in the region of 1hr 30 mins.
- OCEAN LAVA 70.3 HALF IRON MAN TRIATHLON(02/11)-Set in the harsh volcanic landscape of Lanzarote, it is one of worlds renowned terrains for triathlons. The race will consist of 1.9km of sea swimming, 90km of cycling (with 1500m+ of hill climbing and 20%+ slopes) and 13.1 miles of running. Temperatures could reach up to 30 degrees. I am aiming for a sub-6 hour time.
Although I enjoy (kind of) doing silly painful stuff, helping the charities out will certainly make things easier.
Please help this great charity!
