An intrepid group of novice Higgs & Sons rowers will be taking part in Bewdley Rowing Club's Pub & Club Regatta on 2nd June in order to raise money for Higgs charity of the Year, Dudley Mind.
With three boats entered, we're hoping to raise as much money as we can whilst staying (relatively) dry on the water rather than in it. Results from our training sessions have so far been mixed, but with just a few more sessions to go before the big day things are starting to come together (just!).
We thank you in advance for any donations which will be gratefully received on behalf of this fantastic cause.
Updates on our training will be posted up until the day of the Regatta!
Blog update 15.5.18: The CoolRowings crew (formerly Derelict) have recovered from their poor start when they needed to be towed back to dry land from somewhere near Bristol (well almost). They are now rowing as a four with some determination
Blog update 25.5.18: With just over a week to go, final preparations are taking place: with one eye on the weather forecasts, CoolRowings have been watching The Perfect Storm on loop (poor choice - it doesn't end well), Flotsam are concerned about possible desertion as one of its crew goes on extended holiday, scuppering plans for a last fine tune of their technique and Jetsam are trying to take the title of 'Coolest' rowers following their shoot with a professional photographer - see main page photo.
Blog update 2.6.18: We did it! Well done to all three crews who acquitted themselves admirably in what was a fantastic day. Despite the heat and (a rather dubious decision to re-run a blatant victory for Cool Rowings!), all three crews performed really well and it was great to see so many Higgs people there to cheer us on.
Our appreciation to all involved; the crews, the crowd, Bewdley RC for a great day and to everyone who has donated and enabled us to exceed our target for Dudley Mind. THANK YOU ALL!
