On Friday 24th March I’m going to be fucking up my feet by walking on hot coals in aid of the Manchester YMCA’s ‘Inspiring Futures’ Project.
They work with young people who provide care, assistance or support to another family member. They provide this care on a regular basis, and it is significant and substantial, requiring a level of responsibility that most of us still struggle with as an adult. The time and effort these young people spend caring for their family can have an impact on their qualifications and hinder their social skills - Have you ever considered the importance of making friends by having a kick about on the park?
The project engages with young carers to help them achieve positive outcomes in their education, physical and mental well-being, socialisation, and independence, by delivering work related social skills workshops and individual support.
