I've never really lifted weights before...not properly. But that doesn't mean I can't, I've managed lots of things I never thought possible, so why not this?!
To help raise awareness for Maternal mental health, I have decided to lift 16'215kg in an hour for an outstanding Bristol based charity called Mothers for Mothers.
Mothers for Mothers provide perinatal mental health support through helplines, support groups, home visits, group trips and art therapy which I think is just awesome. Having suffered with postnatal depression and anxiety after the birth of my son 4 years ago, I cannot emphasize enough how incredibly valuable this is! We didn't live in Bristol 4 years ago, but if we did and I had access to services such as this, I do often wonder how much faster I may have recovered. But I did recover, and that is why I have chosen the challenge I have...YOU ARE ALWAYS STRONGER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE!!
How am I actually going to lift over 15'000 kilos in an hour?...well the plan is...for me to lift 30kg weights via 3 different lifts approximately 541 times! I can't do that at the minute....I'm going to train for the whole month of May and at the end of the month my intention is to smash it out (under qualified supervision!) in an hour...which I'm pretty sure is going to be tough!!!
