To employ a tutor to teach Older people basic and intermediate computer skills. This project will teach older people essential computer and internet skills in order to remove the fear and anxiety associated with modern day technology. Having these skills will enable older people to stay in touch with their families and friends overseas, shop independantly for groceries online, manage finances, and to access services and information online.
Why they need our serviceOur lives are becoming more and more centered around online living. From communicating with people to sorting out our business. In order to encourage social inclusion and independence, it is important that we include older people and give them the opportunities to learn new life skills and maintain them. This project helps to empower older individuals and to promote freedom of choice.
Plan and expected results20 older people will learn a new skill, promoting self confidence and self esteem, leading to more active members in the community. They will have a greater sense of whats going on around them and will be able to communicate with loved ones overseas. Regular use of computers have a positive impact on cognitive ability and attention span helping to improve hand eye coordination. Individuals will have a greater sense of independance and will be able to access a variety of information and services.
