We wish to set up 8 PCs, hold workshops with the local college and have a tutor deliver these classes to six women at a time, twice a week. Clients will obtain an NVQ level 1 certification in basic IT skills. Presently, we have two clients per PC to start the project and hope to build on the number of PCs for larger groups. This in turn will enable the women to complete their homework, access emails, and complete training and education courses
Why they need our serviceThe community needs the facility to empower abused women and help them gain a basic skill that will help them in the future with life skills and obtaining jobs. The women are encouraged to use their time effectively and as most don't have any basic skills, this will give them confidence and self esteem to support them in independent living
Plan and expected resultsWe hope to set this up by end of January 2010 and run for one year. We are expecting to get atleast 14 women trained in the first year, completing the level 1 and to encorage all new comers to participate in the workshops. This will provide a qualification for the women to go on further to advanced courses and give them the confidence and self esteem to better their lives
