…Pick Yourself Off The Ground!
On Friday 24th March, I will be strutting down a runway of scorching hot coals in a bid to raise some money with the YMCA.
Their mission statement:
“Manchester YMCA’s ‘Inspiring Futures’ Project’ works with young people aged 24 and under who provide care, assistance or support to another family member. They provide this care on a regular basis, and it is significant and substantial, requiring a level of responsibility that would normally be associated with an adult. The transition into adulthood and employment for young carers can be complicated by a lack of qualifications, limited social skills and the pressures associated with a continuing caring role. The project increases the confidence, social skills and employability of this group, and engages with them to achieve positive outcomes in their education, physical and mental well-being, socialisation, and independence, by delivering work related social skills workshops and individual support.”
As you can imagine I’m terrified…because the organisers have suggested that I don’t wear any hairspray/flammable cosmetics for the duration of the event. If I can manage that, then hopefully you’ll be able to part with 50p for a fantastic cause which directly affects the city that I now think of as my home.
If you are in town on Friday night, spectators are very welcome to arrive at the Castlefield Hotel (Liverpool Rd, Manchester M3 4JR) for 7.30pm
Love,
Cole
