I started running during the Christmas lockdown of 2020/21 as a way to cope with everything that was going on and help clear my mind in the fresh air. I didn’t have any goals in mind, I just knew I needed to be outside! I started very slowly running for a minute then walking for a minute and built it up over time.
Then the opportunity to take part in the Bath Half Marathon came up by running for Bath City Farm and I decided to go for it. Training has been challenging as the event has been rescheduled a couple of times and my motivation always dips when that happens. But I will keep getting back out there!
So far the furthest I’ve run is 14k but it felt good so with a bit more training I’m hopeful I’ll be able to enjoy the race rather than worrying about getting to the end!
I’m running for Bath City Farm because as well as being a special place for the community, I think the work they do to help people with their mental health is incredibly important. Bring outdoors and part of nature is such a powerful experience. Thank you Bath City Farm.
