Arrived to a slightly cloudy day and was taken through my paces and how I could signal the pilot if I didn't like it while I was up there! Signed a piece of paper to agree that it was dangerous and was asked to take off rings, watch etc as they would blow away in the wind. Also couldn't wear the pilots cap as it would strangle me!
It was a bumpy ride across the field to the take-off area and then we took off. I had been told to keep my arms out as we got into the air so that I understood just what the force of the wind meant and from the video you can see my face being pushed back into some very strange shapes.....
As we lifted off I could see the London skyline in front of me with the Shard prominently on display. We swooped over friends and family and did some real roller coaster movements. I tried lots of arm movements and a few leg ones as well only it was really hard against the pressure of the wind.
We were up there for about 10 minutes and it was completely exhilarating especially with a storm-cloud backdrop and the sun coming through the clouds with a glow and a halo.
Would happily do it again although it has just taken me two attempts to get the knots out of my hair and I feel as though I have done a complete upper body workout.
It would be great if you could sponsor me and help support older people in the borough of Milton Keynes. I have nearly hit my £2,000 target.
Thank you so much to all my friends, relatives and colleagues who have supported me on the way. Hopefully my madness has now paid off and I have got this one out of my system.
What next?
