In December 2015 I was at the Band Of Brothers Council meeting and heard the news that the man currently training to run the marathon for the charity had pulled out. The question was asked, if anyone else was up for it. Much to my own amazement, I raised a hand and volunteered myself. Now, with only a month to go, It's occurring to me I should have given it some more thought.
However, 4 months of training has done me wonders and has helped me in many unexpected ways. Only last month we launched ABOB Cornwall and I genuinely feel if I hadn't been running, I would have collapsed, exhausted before the event took place. I have realised that one of my habits is that I'm a good starter but not so great at finishing things off. Running is definitely making me address this and the 26 miles that lay ahead of me, even more so!
I'm going to be ready next month to run the marathon, what I need now is your support and sponsorship. Money raised will support ABOB Cornwall to continue to grow and specifically, will be used to help fund our programme for young men, called a Quest. The Quest will be followed up by mentoring, group meetings, expedition weekend and celebration ceremony. After this the young men will have the choice to join the wider circle of staff and support others in their journey.
