SexYOUality, an amazing charity working to support young LGBT people living in Cambridgeshire, provides a range of services including youth groups and one to one support for youngsters who identify as LGBT.
I identified as 'different' very early on in my childhood but in my community there was no support to help me make sense of my feelings or the impact this had on my life. Dealing with a sense of difference on my own with no support or role models certainly affected my young life and undoubtedly the opportunities and experiences afforded to me in later life. I was lucky to have a loving family and sport which provided a real focus for me and guided me securely through to adulthood.
Every town and city should have an organisation like SexYOUality providing every school with a programme to help all children make sense of difference, to stop bullying and the isolation of children from from their peers and their learning - please support this charity so that the little Judiths of the future can get support to understand who they are and start to unfold opportunities for their future.
