I am swimming 5 kilometres to raise funds for Safe Families for Children Wales who support families in crisis. One of the charity's main aims is to stop children going into foster care, but also to empower and support parents in their role of raising children.
 
 I am lucky enough to have plenty of friends and family around me to turn to when I need a listening ear, or practical support, however, there are families in your community who have no-one. Safe Families for Children Wales recruit volunteers to befriend parents and provide occasional overnight stays for children to allow parents to get back on their feet.
