I'm running the Bristol 10k on May 13th... all funds raised will be donated to St Werburghs City Farm, to help pay for a new roof for the Supported Training cabin. Out of our little cabin, together with a group of adults with support needs, we manage a community garden, two greenhouses and a polytunnel using organic practices. Our cabin provides a safe and constant space away from the hubbub of the rest of the farm (them goatses be rowdy) for the people we support to anchor themselves. However, this winter has taken it's toll and we are in desperate need of a new roof! Some incredibly generous local contractors (Greenheart Sustainable Construction) have offered to supply free timber and labour, and Polyroof will supply other materials free of charge. However, we still need to pay for scaffolding, skips and other sundries, costing over £1000. So my colleague Emily and I have decided to dig out our trainers and get running, and ask our friends, family and anyone else we can persuade to sponsor us to run the Bristol 10k on May 13th. It goes without saying - Any donation no matter how small will be appreciated and all funds will go towards Supported Training's new roof! Thank you.
