This July, Jo is embarking on one of the biggest challenges of her life!
She is going to run 1km on the 1 July, 2km on the 2 July, and increase the distance daily until she runs 31km on Monday 31 July. The total will be 496km - a challenge set by adventure athlete Sean Conway. 496km in one month... gulp. ---------------------------------- Why?
I run a charity called Young People First, and I am completely passionate about who we are and what we do. We have a massive vision - no young person limited by disadvantage - and we believe that every young person should have equal opportunities and should be able to thrive in life.
Unfortunately this isn't always the case, and we work in an area with multiple levels of disadvantage meaning that the young people we work with can feel 'held back' or that they're starting behind everyone else, and can have little hope for their future. This isn't fair... so we run youth clubs, mentoring, group sessions, community events, provide family support and holiday schemes, getting to know the young people, their families and their community and working with them to help them have the confidence and life skills to succeed in life...
Please will you sponsor me as I do a LOT of running to raise money for the work we do at Young People First.
