In the depths of winter Al and I dreamt of Summer, of river swims, being fit and frolicking outdoors in the balmy waters of Devon, so signed up to the Outdoor Swimming Society's event: the Bantham Swoosh! a 6 km river swim.
Here we are in June, feeling a little less certain about our ability to do this, but committed nonetheless. We have bought wetsuits, learnt how to squeeze them onto our bodies, swum in Henleaze lake, swum in the Cornish sea 10 times, got our heads underwater despite the 'face freeze', cold acclimatised ourselves for at least 30 minutes in 13 degree water, and managed a couple of cold, choking and chaffing kilometres. Will 'well, we have always been quite good at swimming' be enough to get us through? I think YOUR SUPPORT might make all the difference!
Al and I are really keen to support this local Bristol charity, Bristol Refugee Rights, who care for our local refugee and asylum seeker population with all kinds of practical support.
Thanks for your help!
