This is a 24 hour sponsored swim organised by and on behalf of The Friends of Jubilee Pool.
For 85 years Jubilee Swimming Pool has been a vital leisure facility for its local community. Now the swimming pool is under serious threat from closure with Bristol City Council proposing to shut the doors forever in March 2022. The Friends are trying to bring the pool into community ownership.
I am swimming the 5am-6am slot on Sunday 30th January and am aiming to do 92 lengths (2km). I swim at Jubilee regularly (but not usually so early in the morning!). My adult son, Noah, who has Learning Difficulties, enjoys the Accessible Swim session every Friday, where he swims and sees his friends.
It would be such a shame for this local resource to be closed and lost.
