Please help us raise money to fund a defibrillator and save lives in our area....
As you will know Bernie and I have run just about every type of race possible; track events, multiple half marathons, a few marathons and some obstacle course runs increasing the distance and the stupidity each time.
So... what comes after a marathon?? Well, earlier this year I rang Bernie to tell her about a 50km (31 mile) run that I'd found. That's upping the stakes I thought.... Well, Offerdal had other ideas.... 'They do a 100km run' she said. 'It'll be fun' she said... And here we are! Who am I to say no to 62 miles with my running buddy!! So we have entered the Thames Path Challenge in September 2015.
We will be doing this to raise money for an amazing local charity and a cause where we really know that our efforts will make a huge impact.
Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation is a charity which was set up after Robert and Maggie lost two of their children at a young age. It's a heartbreaking story which you can read about on their web page.
Robert and Maggie have thrown all their efforts into raising money to increase awareness of cardiac issues and putting defibrillators into public places. They have raised enough money to install 45 defibrillators across South Birmingham and Redditch and they really are lifesavers.
Most of our friends are pretty sporty and will know the story of footballer Fabrice Muamba whose life was saved when a defib was used after he collapsed on the pitch; the quicker a defib is used, the greater the chance of survival so we want as many people as possible to have access to these machines should they ever need them.
Bernie and I have set a target of £1,000 - enough to purchase a defibrillator and save more lives in the future. We hope you will be able to help us with our quest and thank you in advance for every single penny you donate. You really will be making a difference to people's lives when they need it most.
