When I was little I always used to watch the London Marathon on TV, I was in awe of the people that ran it and always thought it would be amazing to follow in their footsteps.
I have always enjoyed running but a half marathon has been my limit, until now. I never thought I would have the dedication or commitment needed to train and run 26 miles. However, last year I was convinced to enter the ballot for the London marathon, to my amazement I was successful first time.
So now all the hard work has started and I need some motivation to keep me going.
Some wonderful friends of mine started the charity Baby Basics Northampton 4 years ago, providing much needed starter kits for New Mum’s in Crisis. These amazing ladies inspire me every day with the time and effort they give. Hopefully now I have the opportunity to do my bit too.
Baby Basics provide Moses baskets of essential items for new Mums who find themselves struggling financially at this critical time of life.
The Mums they support are often on the fringes of society who have grown up in care, have substance misuse issues linked to domestic abuse or historic sexual abuse, have found themselves in trouble with the law, are very young or are single parents which all lead to economic hardship, isolation and low self-esteem.
By providing Moses Baskets, Baby Basics ensures that Mum has all the essentials needed to help them cope with the birth of their child.
Please give generously, all the money you give will be used to provide essential clothes and equipment to new Mums. You are also ensuring that I can’t back out of running the marathon on 23 April and fulfilling a lifelong ambition!
Thank You!
