Baby Basics provide Moses baskets of essential items for new mums who find themselves struggling financially at this critical time of life. The service was set up in 2013 by 4 mums who, with the support of their local church and community, volunteered their time to provide this valuable service predominantly to health care professionals. In nearly 10 years we have helped over 1800 families have a better start with their baby.
Why the community needs us
The mums we support are often on the fringes of society who have grown up in care, have substance misuse issues linked to domestic abuse or historic sexual abuse, have found themselves in trouble with the law, are very young or are single parents which all lead to economic hardship, isolation and low self esteem.
Our impact on the community
Below is feedback received from a healthcare professional: Just telephoned 3 girls who I know were over the moon with their baskets and asked them what they thought: 'I thought I had just been visited by father Christmas, I never expected something so nice. The moses basket was packed with loads of baby stuff that looked amazing. I don't know what kind of people give this for free but I'm glad they do'
