As the Fundraiser for Home-Start Wokingham District, I know, only too well what a fantastic cause it is - helping local families with young children who are going through a particularly tough time, finding parenting really hard and needing that extra bit of support and friendship to be able to give their children a better start in life.
The last year has been incredibly challenging for our families: facing illness, bereavement and job losses; dealing with lockdowns and home schooling; struggling with depression and anxiety; and feeling an increased sense of isolation. It has also been really hard during the pandemic for Home-Start to raise the funds we need to be able to continue our life changing work.
So these wonderful ladies and I decided to do something to help and we'd be hugely grateful for any donation you can make, however small. It will make a real difference ...
It costs about £1000 a year to train and supervise a volunteer to support a family in need. That's £80 a month, or £20 a week. As one single mum put it:
"Home-Start is amazing! The have made such a difference to our lives. The connection and support in life changing. I can't express how much gratitude and respect we have for you."
