We are swimming for 24 hours non-stop (as a relay in one-hour stints) to raise funds to help save our lovely pool that Bristol City Council want to close. There's not another pool close by so I and a lot of others, will stop swimming completely.

Jubilee Pool is invaluable to me as I'm prone to being a fattie, and having osteoarthritis means a huge amount of other forms of exercise are really quite challenging - even long walks. I used to dislike swimming, but I have surprised myself and have grown to love it. Since before having my hips replaced I've used Jubilee Pool to help with my weight (ignore the COVID body still hanging on - i'll be back), keep a reasonable level of fitness and to take some time for myself when my mental health is fighting with the black dog.

Jubilee Pool is a 15-minute walk from our house so I can go regularly, sometimes 5 times a week. If it closes it will take me an hour an quarter to travel to the pool the council would prefer us to use - which is ridiculous, who has the time for that? Also, the pool the council want us to use is set at 'race' temperature, which is quite cool, whereas Jubilee Pool is a lot warmer and helps ease my aching arthritic joints.

Please sponsor whatever you can give, I may be getting older but I am far from ready to be pushed around in a wheelchair yet, your donation may help me stay on two feet for a good while longer.

big hugs and thank you's in advance
Debbie xx
