Team Fundraisers
I am coming out of the water and off my bike to run the great midlands fun run. Those of you who know me will know how challenging I find running. So I thought if I am going to suffer 8.5 miles of tarmac why not get some good out of it and raise some money for OUR PLACE.
I am privileged to be part of a team of volunteers at our Place and experience first hand the fantastic work it does in Sutton and the surrounding areas.
Our Place Support are a voluntary organisation based in Sutton Coldfield and delivering support to hundreds of local people across Sutton and the surrounding areas.
Our Mentoring Scheme supports children from as young as 6 through to adults who are struggling with their emotional and mental health.
We work with children and adults every week for up to a year to ensure that they are able to make a lasting positive change. We support people with many issues including overcoming abuse, parental separation, loss, anger and suicidal thoughts.
We are seeing an increase in children needing help with very challenging issues such as self harm with suicidal thoughts and need more funding to recruit and train mentors to support these children.
Our Place also run an Advice Cafe which is free for anyone to access. This project helps people that find themselves in complex situations with housing, homelessness, debt/bailiffs, benefit appeals, sanctions and much more! We are one of very few places that people can come to for face to face support to deal with matters that have become unmanageable for them.
