Lads Need Dads CIC do some incredible work with boys aged 11-15 who are missing a strong male role model in their life, right at that critical age where they need support & guidance from a father or father figure the very most. Through their programmes and volunteer mentors these boys now get the support to help them develop life skills and behaviours which they would otherwise be lacking.
I was personally blessed to have a strong figure in the form of my Grandad in my life right until my early thirties, whom which I idolised. I was always given the encouragement I needed, its helped me truly be the best I can be, never taking the easy option. Now, as an immensely proud Father myself, being someone for my own son to look up to is something which I am committed to without compromise. By example, I instil in him what's possible with the right mindset & drive, I give him the tools he needs to grow up to be a person who reaches his potential & the contentment which that brings. Him seeing me trek nearly 200 miles across the country is a good representation of what you're able to achieve when you leave your comfort zone! Boys naturally want to learn from their fathers, but what happens when they aren't there? It converts into resentment, anger & frustration, which only leads to bad early life decisions. The mentoring programmes in place by Lads Need Dads help boys channel these complex emotions for good, to help them become strong & confident as they take the path towards becoming men.
Like with any charity, the amount of people they can help is very much related to the amount of funding available. This is why I am not only raising money & awareness for their cause, but also pledging to donate funds from my own business alongside offering my own time to help in a hands on way.
Thanks for taking the time to read about this cause which I'm so passionately supporting, & please help Lads Need Dads to carry on the exceptional work that they do with the next generation.
