Hi, my name is Leigh Priestley and I have had MS for 20 years having been diagnosed on my 28th birthday! Before I was diagnosed with Relapsing and Remitting MS I worked as a Senior Clinical Writer and I was very sporty and active. I used to love kickboxing, going to the gym and running and continued to do all of these things for a number of years after my initial diagnosis. I had an MS relapse whilst training for my first official kickboxing fight and shortly after was unable to kickbox anymore, so I never achieved that aim. Slowly, over time, I was unable to run or go to the gym, so instead I would walk everywhere. In July 2019 my MS was re-classified as Secondary Progressive. I continued to walk as my only form of exercise and then in March 2022 changes in my MS made walking not fun anymore as the pain and heaviness in my legs made walking uncomfortable. As a result, I now live a very sedentary life which as you can imagine, sucks! When I found out that I could sign off myself to do a skydive, I really wanted to help raise money for the Wessex MS Therapy Centre. They have provided me with valuable treatments that help me every day. I’ve received counselling and I have regular physio, massage, reflexology and acupuncture at the centre which helps me with my day-to-day life. The staff and volunteers at the centre are amazing, knowledgeable, friendly and supportive and have become like a second family to me. I would be very grateful if you could donate money to this charity, as little or as much as you can. Oh, and wish me luck!!!
