I am raising money to support those children and families that are struggling financially to keep playing football during these difficult economic times.
You can support this aim by sponsoring me to complete the Spine Challenge 2023,a 100 mile race along the Pennine Way in mid-winter.
I am lucky to be able to do this. It is great for my fitness, mental health and for making friends. As a coach and parent at St Albans City Youth I know that the club wants exactly the same things for all of our players, regardless of their circumstances.
'City Youth' is one of the largest youth football clubs in the UK with over 1,200 registered players across Girls, Inclusive and Boys sections. As a charity, the club runs a programme of 11 Community projects including work in several local primary schools, football provision for refugees at a local college, intervention sessions in a local pupil referral unit, mental-health football sessions in partnership with local charities and Walking Football and Female Recreational Football for adults. The club is also the largest provider of Pan-Disability Football in Hertfordshire with 105 regular players.
The club's ethos is 'Football for All' and it has a 'Support for Financial Difficulty Policy' (SFD) whereby no child is denied access due to their family's financial circumstances. The number of families accessing the SFD is continuing to grow, as does the financial impact on the club.
With your support and generosity, I wish to use my challenge to raise funding through your sponsorship to provide the club with funds to continue to provide and expand as necessary the SFD, making sure the youngsters who need it can keep playing football.
Thank you in advance for your support
