Marly Talks. is turning 30! What a perfect opportunity to raise some funds for a brilliant organisation to fight racism.
I'm entering my fourth decade on Earth. I've lived across two centuries and two millennia. I've lived with and without the internet. I've lived in 26 different houses, including a refuge for abuse victims. I've worked in retail, fast food, design, film, education, entertainment, with charities, companies, corporations and NGOs and I've NOT ONCE had a setback due to the colour of my skin.
Shamefully, that is not the case for many of the people I grew up with on council estates around Northampton. This is why I've decided to hold a birthday fundraiser for the Northamptonshire Rights & Equality Council (NREC) - an organisation dedicated to racial equality. Here's their mission statement:
"Northamptonshire REC’s vision is to challenge and eradicate discrimination (both personal and institutional) and prejudice or hostility in all its forms; so that all Northamptonshire’s diverse communities and citizens can enjoy peace, achieve their full potential and live free from injustice. We aim for a socially cohesive society in which diversity and human rights are recognised, celebrated and valued."
As I turn 30, instead of showering me with gifts (as I'm sure you're planning to), make a small donation to this fundraiser and let's fight for equality together.
Love to you all, unless you're a Tory. Marly Talks.
