Matt was a 34 year old Hereford lad, whom attended Trinity Primary, White cross High School and Holme Lacy. He achieved his Masters Diploma in Personal Training and Sports Massage at the David Lloyd Centre. He pursued a career in gym management.
In January 2011, after a day’s work in London. Literally on leaving the gym he collapsed without warning and was taken to hospital, later to be released and diagnosed with epilepsy. Almost twelve months to the day he was diagnosed with a Grade 2 brain tumour and had his operation at Birmingham and completed chemotherapy sessions at the Mcmillian Renton unit, Hereford. However he made wonderful progress with sheer determination embracing the ‘live strong’ lifestyle and sought alternative methods. Through the Yeleni Support Therapy Centre in Hereford and May Cameron at Wellington Heath, Ledbury.
Sadly in February 2013, whilst this active inspiring man was having his battle with this debilitating disease, his 57 year old father was diagnosed with a Grade 4 brain tumour. Matthew continued supporting his family and introduced Nick, his father to the Yeleni Centre, who found great relaxation and comfort from the complementary therapies. Nick passed away at St Michael’s Hospice on the 2nd May 2014. Despite all of this, Matthews fight was continuing, he was unable to attend his father’s funeral because he had a severe case of shingles which left him with weakness in his right eye. . Matt fought back and was determined. In October 2014 he even achieved the Mud Runner at Eastnor Castle. Matt travelled by himself to France twice in 2014.
Sadly in early 2015 Matt’s health started to deteriorate leaving him with left sided weakness due to the tumour growing. After a 7 sessions of radio therapy he lost his battle and passed away on the 13 March 2015.
Family and friends of Matt know how much Matt appreciated and got involved with the work of the Yeleni Therapy and Support Centre and so would like donations to made to this.
